The Virginia Association
of Colleges and Employers 2007 Annual Conference held at the
Wyndham Roanoke Airport Hotel in Roanoke was a wonderful
experience. Catalyst
Events returned to help kick of the conference in a fun and
interactive style. "That was the year that was" got
everyone involved and energized for the next two days. I
don't think anyone will forget that Maverick's co-pilot at the
end of Top Gun was Merlin. The breakout sessions that
followed included topics ranging from work visas to 5 star
marketing plans. The President's Reception and Awards
Dinner, see the recipients below, in the Ballroom ended the busy
first day.
The second day began with the college showcase and more
breakout sessions before and after lunch covering areas that
included externships, job search ethics and work/life balance.
After the Networking Luncheon, speaker
Gregory Justice both educated and entertained our group
during his presentation. Later that afternoon we met at
Schaal's on
Campbell to make dinner plans and connect with old and new
friends.
Friday began with breakfast and the Annual business Meeting
in the ballroom followed by a few more breakout sessions and the
Roundtable discussions. At the conference we had a total
of 122 participant (88 College/34 Employer) including 43
newcomers. We closed with the final door-prizes and said
our good byes in anticipation of next year's conference in
Williamsburg!
