The
Virginia Association of Colleges & Employers 2006 Annual
Conference held at the Omni Hotel in Richmond was a rousing
success. Beginning with an exhilarating musical activity
by Catalyst, who provided the memorable team building
exercise in Natural Bridge in Spring 2004, which produced an
abundance of rhythmic sounds. It will be hard to forget,
"1, 2, 3, Bananas" and the final blend of our
musical talents into one cohesive Band. The
breakout sessions in the afternoon allowed
both college and employer members to develop new ideas
for career interactions with students. The President's
reception and awards dinner that evening was a time
to reflect on all the hard work of the past year and recognize
exceptional members and their contributions.
The second day included the College Showcase and Keynote
Speaker Gerry
Crispin, followed by more engaging breakout sessions and
the Networking Luncheon. After some free time we were
able to catch up at the evening reception in the Downtown
Club and enjoy aerial views of the historic James River
and of the city of Richmond.
The final day began with the Employer Showcase and ended with
the Roundtable discussions, see a copy of the notes
below. At the conference we had a total of 121
participants (83 College/38 Employers) including 34 new
members. We closed with the final door prizes and said our
good byes with an eye toward an even more successful conference
next year in Roanoke!
